Karthik Ganesan is a Staff-2 Performance Engineer at VMware R&D. He leads the data-plane performance efforts for Kubernetes on vSphere at VMware and has a keen interest in the performance aspects of Kubernetes. Previously, he was a principal engineer at Oracle and has broad experience in cloud systems performance with expertise in resource management, operating system, middleware (Java and Kubernetes), virtualization and hardware acceleration. He obtained his PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He holds multiple US patents, given numerous talks, published book chapters/papers at reputed computer science conferences and journals. He also serves on conference committees to peer review papers in performance engineering.
